Why three numbers, not one
Most owners look at the Fresha subscription line on their bill and stop there. The other two — marketplace commission and card processing — quietly run alongside, and across a year they often add up to more than the subscription itself.
This calculator surfaces all three, using UK rates checked against Fresha's pricing page and the independent sources listed below. The subscription is straightforward. Marketplace commission is the one most owners underestimate: a one-time 20% fee (with a £4 minimum) on the first appointment of each new client who finds you via the Fresha marketplace. Returning clients carry no fee, but every new marketplace client adds one. Card processing is the same kind of cost you'd pay with any provider — Stripe, Square, SumUp — so we show it for completeness but exclude it from the Aasure comparison.

How is Fresha's total cost calculated?
Three moving parts. (1) Subscription: £14.95/month for Independent or £9.95/month per bookable team member for Team. (2) Marketplace commission: a one-time 20% of the first booking of every new client found via the Fresha marketplace, with a £4 minimum per client. (3) Card processing: 1.2% + 20p per UK card transaction. The calculator combines all three using your own numbers.
Why does the marketplace commission feel so high?
It's charged on the full booking value of the new client's first appointment, not your profit. For a £45 service, that's £9 to Fresha — but the £4 minimum kicks in on cheaper services, which is why low-ticket businesses feel the bill more sharply.
Is card processing unique to Fresha?
No. You'd pay processing with any provider, such as Stripe, Square or SumUp, at that provider's own rates. That's why the "If you switched to Aasure" comparison block excludes card processing: it's the subscription + marketplace fees that are avoidable, not the card handling itself.
